More shopping pointers
Here are a few more pointers that will save you money. When it comes to shopping and saving you can't be lazy , do your research think critically.
- Be willing to shop at Costco or large bulk stores if you can. I would look for deals at stores for canned veggies and thought I was getting a good deal when I found a can for 60 cents. With the twins now I have to think critically, if I buy a big box from Costco and take the price divided by the number of cans in the box I realized they would end up being 24cents!!!
- Know when your stores ads come out. Drug stores such as Rite Aid usually go Sunday to Sunday. Whereas grocery stores go Wednesday to Wednesday .
Call ahead and find out how many come in a case and order the cases you want to ensure they set yours aside. Finally, always ask for a rain check if they are out. They often don't expire!! Sometimes I hold on to them until I find a coupon!!!
Now when I didn't have to pinch penny's like I do now my detergent of choice was always tide . But I discovered these little babys. They actually clean well, and the great news is the drug stores often have them on sale for like 1.79. And you can always find coupons. The last time I bought 6 cases they come 6 to a case (with twins I cant afford to run out) I had the manager save my order while I waited for my coupons. I ordered $1 off coupons for 10cent. They ended up being .89cent each for a total of only 32 before taxes!! I also got the last of it so I asked for a rain check. Its almost time cor a reup!! Rite Aid also has buy one get one free off and on.
On last pointer is don't sleep on Goodwill for house hold items. They often have name brand cleaners, sanitary items and dog care items. They are sealed and brand new. I got products for my swifter wet jet. Those of you who use this know that the refill pads and cleaner is not cheap. Goodwill had then for $ 1 of course I bought all of the cleaner and like 6 of the pads.

My spring "blues".
If you are fimilar with California life you know all to well that April (by the way that's my beasties name!! Hey girl lol) is a curious time of the year. One day it will be 57 and rainy and the next 81. So you can't quite put away the cold gear. I have sent my kids to school only to get to work and it start to rain! I know we have all been there, we spend the day thinking I suck, maybe I can get a friend to take them pants lol.
Well most of April will be like this so I figured this may be my last chance to wear those great Ellen Tracey boots that I got marked down like 4times! They went from like $150 to just 45 ! That's nothing for good leather. I would have spent 3times that! (I'm tough on shoes so I have to get good quality. I know I killed my moms wallet when I was little) Well here they are.
I have been looking for brown boots forever, because I have fat calves. Cute huh. I also broke down and went to Old Navy for the first time in years and actually found some skinnys that fit all my "junk in my trunk".
I paired it with a western shirt I thrifted for $2 and a True republic t my hubby gifted me . (I'm sure he paid to much, he has no patience for looking for a deal!) I had to include a picture of my cute umbrella I got free with purchase from Vickie's.

Ikea Lack Side Table To Ottoman
First official post! You will find as we get further in our journey together that I am a "semi-homemade kinda gal, so places like Ikea are my friend.
Here's what I used
Lack side table from Ikea $7.99
One yard of faux leather fabric from Walmart $8 and some change
Carpenter tacks from Walmart they were like 1.60 not over $2 I used 3 packages
Staple gun
Cheap pillow or use an old one around the house free!
(as I'm adding this first post I have one twin "brushing my hair" she's really just striking me in the back of the head with the brush, and one climbing me like a jungle gym, and my son asking me millions of questions it's clear I'll need to set some boundaries )
Let's start by saying I never take measurements I "eye ball " everything which is horrible!! So if you measure lol measure the top of the table and then the sides and add an inch more.
Then cut open your pillows case. Mine was wonderful it was batting that was rolled like a cinnamon roll. I unrolled and put on top of table and cut. You can use a spray adhesive to attach the batting to the table
I found that it is easier to screw the legs off when trying to staple the fabric on lol. Should have been common sense!! Ha! Gotta learn to laugh at your self it burns calories .
Pull fabric tight and staple all around the bottom so they won't show. I had to use a hammer to puts them all the way in so they wouldn't scrap little bodies.
It is Important to leave the area where the leg screws in clear or it either won't screw all the way in or the table/ottoman will be lopsided and wiggle.
Here is a close up of the fabric and the tacks
